The troop’s and venture unit’s Christmas activity was held at La Cave Pizzeria in Valletta. The evening started with Mass at St. Catherine Home which was animated by the group. Before departing for Valletta, the GSL thanked all members for their contribution during the year. He said that he was proud to be heading the group as the group has evolved into one of the best in the district. He congratulated the ventures for their success in the venture rally and also the troop for their participation in the scout challenge. The GSL also pointed out the appointment of 2 ventures as leaders saying that the future of the group relied on young leaders being appointed from within the group. He augured that more ventures will follow this path.
ASL Mario Micallef also thanked the troop members for their support in the activities of 2009. He said that although it is sad to note that some members of the troop stopped attending during the year, it was positive that all cubs who became scouts in summer had integrated well within the group. This is the future of the troop.
AVSL Manuel Cremona echoed his thanks to the ventures and again congratulated the unit for their success in the Venture rally. He said that 2009 will be remembered as a year of successes since the unit also won the Ventures National football tournament.
The best scout award was awarded to Julian Sultana while second best was Jason Micallef. The GSL award was given to Gordon Vassallo.
The best venture award was awarded to Mathew Cremona while Benjamin Micallef was awarded the GSL award.
A memento was given to the five ventures who made up the team that won the Venture Rally.
Julian Sultan also won the Band Master’s award.
