The Jamboree on the Air or Internet is an international event
which takes place every year in October were scouts from all over the world share
their experiences and establishes contacts with each other via radio or through the
internet.
The group this year experienced the JOTI event first hand. Thanks to Mizzi Motors
Limited, members of the troop section operated 4 stations made available by the
company to chat to other scouts all over the year.
While some opted to chat openly with anyone coming on the channels, others chatted one
on one with other scouts.
Contact was established with scouts across the world from all five continents. Whilst
learning something about the countries being contacted the event allowed the scouts
to feel the magnitude of the scout Organisation and it’s spread worldwide.
Countries contacted included close to home such as Italy and UK as well as countries
in the Caribbean, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand and countries in Africa.
A world map with the links established was drawn up as a record of the group’s
participation in JOTI ‘07.
