Summer Camp


This year the annual summer camp of the group was held between the 27th July and the 5th August at the Rinella South District camp site. Besides the traditional badge work and activity games done throughout the camp this year a number of special activities were organized by the group leaders and assisting committee members. These included a visit to the AFM air squadron and a life saving course co-ordinated by Staff Sergeant Tony Grech. Amongst the activities organized in ternally, the group organized two very entertaining evenings, a Chinese and a Turkish night were besides the appropriate cooking the patrols competed against each other to present the best self made costume and presentations. On the first of August, the scouts participated in the scouting sunrise celebration in Valletta and Floriana organized by the Malta Scouts Association. In the evening a presentation about the his tory of scouting prepared by Akela Erika Micallef was presented after which a 100th anniversary cake was cut by the present GSL Vince Farrugia and GSL Emeritus Joe Filletti.

The camp was attended by the cubs, troupe and ventures while the beavers were invited to spend a day at camp.

Another successful camp came to an end with a camp fire on Saturday night before packing up on Sunday 5th August.
